The Program “Creation of global ecological benefits through improvement of ecological education and awareness of stakeholders” came to Kotayk on September 18-19.
Representatives of various communities participated in the training course on “Organization and realization of training in the field of ecology for the representatives of public administration and local self-government bodies, as well as representatives of private sector involved in administration of natural resources” in the Municipality of Charentsavan.
The main subject for discussion for the first day was ecological challenges and capacities in our country and in the whole world alike. The participants were presented the general principles of ecological administration.
The second day was devoted to “Sustainable cities”, “Circle economy – elimination of waist”, “Energy efficiency”, and “Recreative energy”.
How do the participants evaluate the two-day course? Do they appreciate ecological issues? Are they going to use their knowledge in their activities? We tried to find answers to these questions from the Secretary of the staff of the Municipality of Charentsavan Suren Muradyan.
“Our society doesn’t seriously acknowledge ecological issues, because they seem they haven’t face them” he said. “Social and economic problems are primary. Probably our society hasn’t reached the development stage to acknowledge the harm that we did to the environment and our health. And from in this respect such trainings are very important. I would like to mention that the participants are very active, and they hold hot discussions. These factors witness the urgency of the problem, and they require resolution. What about using the knowledge? I will not say that we are going to create eco-systems just tomorrow. But daily information and discussions will promote us to consider the problem in our activities. Appreciating the protection of environment, I would like to confess that the budget doesn’t enable us to send our staff members to participate in trainings. So, thank you for giving us this opportunity”.
Member of the Council under the Head of the community Vardan Makinyan, Head of “Curly boy” LLC, added that the subject has always been discussed, they even have held a session of the Council of the Elders devoted to the ecological issues, but their initiative didn’t succeed. He views the problem as an entrepreneur. His factory, where the participants of the Program were hosted, accumulates and delivers hundreds of tones of glass waste. And they are not alone. He believes if the state encourages somehow, and if it was legally regulated, we would have clearer environment.
The participants received certificates, relevant files and disks.
