The collegial administrative body of the Academy is the Council. Its competences last 5 years.

The Council consists of the professorial staff, students of the Academy, executive and representatives of the authoritative body.

The Council consists of 20 members. The staff of the Council is fixed by the Chief of the staff of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

The Council elects a Chairman from its staff, excepting the representatives of the students. The Chairman of the Council cannot be a staffer (dean, head of the chair, professor) at the same institution. The Chairman of the Council maintains his/her right to teach at the same institution as a part-time lecturer.

In the case of slack, the head of the authoritative body can terminate his/her competences or dissolve the Council ahead of time.

The meetings are convened at least once a year. They are legal in the case of participation of at least 2/3 of the members. The decisions are passed by the majority of the members, if the Council doesn’t adopt another decision on the issue. Emergency sessions are convened on the proposal of the executives, authoritative body, Scientific Council of the Academy, the Chairman of the Council or at least 1/3 of the Council members.

The Council

  1. Elects the Chairman,
  2. Asserts its working order,
  3. In according with the Legislation of the Republic of Armenia, it works out and affirms the regulations to elect the Rector, and organizes the election of the Rector,
  4. In the manner established by the Law, works out and affirms the order and working order of the body, which implements surveillance over the executive body of the Academy, and organizes the election of its members,
  5. Discusses and presents proposals on changes or additions in the Charter of the Academy,
  6. Discusses and affirms annual reports of the surveillance body,
  7. Discusses and affirms the annual report of the Rector on annual activities of the Academy, and
  8. Discusses and affirms the budget of the Academy.
