PAARA’s Chair on Political Governance and Public Policy and Student Scientific Society initiated a summer school on “Identity Issues in Establishing New World Order: Armenia’s Vision for Future”, which was held on June 15-23.
Around one hundred attendees of the Summer School took part in the discussions on the issues of identity, world order changes, spiritual and psychological security.
As Prof. Mariam Margaryan, Head of the Chair of Political Governance and Public Policy, Doctor of Political Sciences, noticed at the launch of the Summer School, the stress was put on the natural modernization and not on the loss, atomization, or chaotic perception of identity.
Mr. Armen Ayvazyan, historian, Doctor of Political Sciences, reflected upon the guarantees of the Armenian identity and the challenges of the new world order. He mentioned that at the current difficult period of the development of Armenia and Armenians, the issue of the Armenian identity is not only of academic interest but also of serious practical significance. According to the historian, a strong national identity is a strategic resource in the process of building and enhancing a nation-state, and its blurring does not contribute to the unification of an individual and a society around the national issues and goals. Օn the contrary, it hinders that.
Mr. Varuzhan Geghamyan, Turkologist, PhD in History, lecturer at the Department of Oriental Studies, YSU, presented the topic on “Turkey’s Political Development Issues and New World Order”, and Prof. Ruben Safrastyan, Doctor of History, Orientologist-Turkologist, addressed Turkey’s identity and the challenges of the new world order establishment.
Mr. Tigran Mkrtchyan, diplomat, PhD in Political Sciences delivered a lecture on “The Identity Issues of Small States in the New World Order: Challenges and Opportunities”.
Supreme Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Inter-Church Relations Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, reflected upon the spiritual security issues in Armenia and the place, role, and mission of the state and church in them
Mr. Suren Sargsyan, an expert on International Studies, during his lecture on “The Role of the USA in the Establishment of the New World Order: Challenges and Opportunities” presented the current state, the recent events, and the opportunities for Armenia in this context.
Mrs. Lusine Nikoghosyan, an assistant at PAARA’s Chair of Political Governance and Public Policy, addressed the issues of harmonization of the Political, Civil, and national identity in the South Caucasus.
Major General Genadi Tavaratsyan, Head of National Defense Research University, MOD, RA, touched upon the assurance of the stability of the management of the armed forces, pointing out that leadership is the base for ensuring the latter.
During Iranologist Mr. Aharon Varrdanyan’s lecture, the Armenian-Iranian relations in the context of the new geopolitical realities emerging from the recent Artsakh War were discussed.
Mr. Ashot Galoyan, diplomat, PhD in History, delivered a lecture on “The Identity Issues of the Armenian Diaspora in Latin America”.
Prof. Mariam Margaryan, delivered a concluding lecture for the Summer School attendees on “A Charismatic Leader as a Guarantor of the Secure World Order Future”, pointing out the importance of the institution of leadership.
At the end of the Summer School, Prof. Margaryan and Haikuhi Davtyan, Student Scientific Society Chairwoman, thanked the attendees for the proactive engagement.
