PAARA will have a new partner soon. On February 19, Rector Arsen Lokyan and Carrefour Armenia’s General Director Vache Arsen agreed on collaboration.
Before formalizing the collaboration, PAARA hosted the General Director, who meet with the MBA and HRM programs’ students.
Rector Arsen Lokyan presented the guest, informing that PAARA’s multifaceted cooperation with Carrefour Armenia will encompass several directions: organization of the internship of PAARA students in the given company, assistance in terms of graduates’ work placement, and so on.
During the meeting, Mr. Vache Arsen introduced the history of the foundation and development of the French company Carrefour, the values it has adopted, and the strategy of the activity in Armenia.
Apart from the introduced impressive figures, the company’s values-courage, enthusiasm, and unity, as well as the strategy- to be able to think for a customer, to reduce bureaucracy, and provide the customers only with healthy food and the like, were of great interest to the audience.
As regards Carrefour’s activity in Armenia, the Company has been functioning in our country since 2015 with three stores. However, it is envisaged to expand their number- to open new stores and expand the product range, focusing on the goods of greater demand, as well as to make them more affordable for the customers.
“A customer must leave our store with positive emotions,” said Vache Arsen. “Hence it is important not to deceive customers, be kind to them, and smile.”
One of the important principles characteristic of Carrefour is also its attitude towards nature. The Director of the Company’s Armenian network said they intended to exclude the usage of plastic containers replacing them with recycled paper bags. They had planned to launch the project in November of the previous year but had to postpone it until June-July because of the well-known events.
By the way, the store has a waste treatment system and the product range is dominated by the so-called “eco” products.
It is no surprise that the activity of the French company excessively interested the future entrepreneurs and HR managers now studying at PAARA, and the numerous questions they raised came as proof. The questions and their answers referred to the issues of free competition in Armenia, those of working with human capital, the social assistance programs implemented by Carrefour in Armenia.
The company prefers not to talk much about the latter, but it should be noted that it is an important part of Carrefour Armenia’s activities: tree planting, sanitation, support, especially for the institutions and organizations dealing with the problems of the elderly and children with special needs, etc.
